Here is a picture of me eating a sandwich. Whoop dee do. But, for me. This is so much more. For years I feared food. I restricted my body and I restricted my mind from the foods I wanted. Today I can truly say that I fear no food BUT, I still struggle with feeling guilt afterwards. I know I’ve talked about it before. The guilt associated with eating certain foods is something I’m working so hard on. I may physically be recovered from my struggles, but my mental health is something I am FOREVER working on. I was so proud of myself for eating this sandwich last night after telling myself I couldn’t have it ( I already ate brownies and icecream and candy and chips), so I made my boyfriend snap a picture. I am learning that it is okay to still have these struggles. I am still strong. I am still a role model. Recovery doesn’t have a time stamp. It’s something I choose every day. And I have no fear admitting to that. Always remember- there is food to fuel your body, and there is food to fuel your soul. And both are important.
