Recovery is not a perfect before and after picture. There is ALWAYS a middle picture that we don’t often get to see.

All of the days you struggle to finish your meal because you are so physically bloated and uncomfortable. The nights where your stomach feels like a bottomless pit. You cry because you wonder if extreme hunger is really a thing or something we just made up to make ourselves feel better. You continue to put yourself to sleep telling yourself that tomorrow will be different just to have to wake up to fight the same battle over again. Well I’m telling you that one day it will be different. One day you will know why you picked yourself up off of that cold bathroom floor when the last thing you wanted to do was be alive. Choosing recovery is not easy and to feel ashamed of your recovering body is something I refuse to have anyone else ever have to feel.

I know you are all fighting forces that are greater than yourself. Your fight is real. To wake up everyday and fight a war against yourself is one of the bravest things you will ever do and I am so proud of all of you.
