The amazing Bailey, from makesmoothiesnotwar, has come up with an awesome guide for nice cream! She has tried/experimented with many (if not all) of these recipes so definitely contact her for questions or anything :)
Basic Recipe that I use:
Need:
- A blender
- Bananas (the riper the better)
- Water or non-dairy milk
Optional:
- Juice, coconut water, tea, or coffee (To replace liquid)
- Cocoa/Cacao powder
- Cinnamon
- Chai Spice blend (or make your own and keep in a ziplock- recipe here)
- Pumpkin pie spice (or make own- recipe here)
- PB2
- Peanut butter/Almond butter/Sunflower seed butter
- Chocolate chips (mini is best)
- Dates
- Granola
- Berries
- Coconut flakes
- Pineapple or mango
- Mint leaves or extract
- Coconut extract
- Vegan protein powder
- Ground flax seed
- Chia seeds
- Spinach or Kale (Don’t add too much!)
- Chocolate Date Sauce (recipe to follow)
- Dried fruit
Directions:
- Ahead of time, peel slice and freeze bananas (At least 8 hours is best, but if they aren’t frozen enough, just add ice and blend a bit longer so it’s still smooth). Slicing them helps it to blend easier.
- Add bananas to your blender. I usually do between 2-3.5, it depends on how much you can eat and how hungry you are though.
- Add your choice of liquid (If between water or non-dairy milk, I always do at least half milk, because I don’t think water tastes as good). Add just enough so that it will blend, you can always add more later. You want it as thick as you can.
- If adding anything else such as cinnamon or cocoa, add it here unless you want it as a topping
- Blend!
- Once it seems smooth, stir through it and see that there aren’t any chunks. You may need to add more liquid and blend more.
- Pour into a bowl and add toppings, if applicable. Enjoy!
Recipes:
Chocolate Date Sauce (For topping):
- Pit 2-3 dates and blend with water and cocoa/cacao powder to create a thick but pourable sauce for your nicecream. You have to try it!
Chewy Dates (Like caramel!):
- Top with- Either chopped fresh dates or chopped dried dates
Peanut Butter:
- Blend in- Peanut butter or PB2
- Top with- Peanut butter drizzle (melt peanut butter and pour over) (optional)

Mint Chocolate:
- Blend in- Mint extract or mint leaves (or both), cocoa/cacao powder
- Top with- mint leaves for garnish (optional), chocolate date sauce (optional), chocolate chips
Chai Spice:
- Blend in-Chai spice mix (may not need if you use the tea for the liquid)
- Replace liquid with- chilled chai tea (optional)
Tropical:
- Blend in- Pineapple, mango, coconut extract
- Top with- Coconut flakes (optional), dried tropical fruit (optional)
- Replace liquid with- Orange juice or coconut water (optional)
Pina colada:
- Blend in-pineapple, coconut extract
- Top with- coconut flakes, dried pineapple (optional)
- Replace liquid with-coconut water or coconut milk such as coco lopez (optional)
Coconut/Chocolate Coconut:
- Blend in-Coconut extract, cocoa/cacao powder (optional)
- Top with-Coconut flakes, chocolate chips (optional)
- Replace liquid with-Coconut water or coconut milk such as coco lopez (optional)
Mocha Chocolate Chip:
- Blend in- Cocoa/cacao powder
- Top with- chocolate chips
- Replace liquid with- coffee
Cinnamon Roll:
- Blend in- cinnamon
- Top with- Swirl with cinnamon date sauce (to make, make chocolate date sauce, but replace the cocoa/cacao powder with cinnamon)
Pumpkin Spice:
- Blend in- Pumpkin pie spice, canned pumpkin (optional), maple syrup (optional)
Other Ideas:
- Replace the liquid with a flavored tea such as peppermint or lemon
- Make two or more different flavors and layer or swirl them together (ex. chocolate and peanut butter swirl)
- If you have flavored syrups for coffee, you could experiment with those (I have never tried it, but imagine)
